NID Design Aptitude Test for GDPD (Graduate Diploma Programme in Design) is conducted by National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad for admission to 4 year under-graduate programme in Design.
NID is an autonomous institution under the aegis of The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

NID 2014 Eligibility Criteria
  • Candidates must have passed or must be appearing for Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent like AISSCE/IB/ISC qualifying examinations.
  • 20 years is the upper age limit for candidates. The upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years for candidates under reserved categories.
NID 2014 Application Procedure
  1. Applications forms must be downloaded from website www.admissions.edu.in.
  2. Candidates are required to fill in the application forms after reading the instructions carefully. Relevant documents must be attached along with the application forms in the envelope.
  3. If the application forms are not filled in correctly or are incomplete or relevant documents are not attached then application of the candidate might be rejected.
  4. Application fee is as follows:
    Along with the application form and documents, candidates must also attach Demand Draft of Rs 1500/- drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of National Institute of Design, payable at Ahmedabad.
    • Rs 1500/- for General category candidates
    • Rs 750/- for Reserved category candidates
  5. All the documents (application form, supporting documents and DD) must be posted or handed over physically.

NID 2014 Exam Pattern

The entrance exam usually consists of 2 phases:
  1. Phase I: Design Aptitude Test
The duration of the written exam is 3 hours and total marks are 100. It is usually conducted in January.
It tests students’ ability in design problem solving, observation and perception, environmental awareness, communication skills.
  1. Phase II: Studio Test, Personal Interview and Portfolio Presentation
Studio test usually has 3 parts namely doodling, 3D modeling, and observation. It is usually conducted in April.
