Ragging, considered a violation of human rights, is now officially a crime and has been banned by the Government.

How to register a ragging complaint

Call anti-ragging helpline, internal college helplines or anti-ragging online NGOs.   Lodge FIR within 24 hours with the police and local authorities.   File an RTI without disclosing identity through a friend’s help to get a copy of affidavit and inform raggers’ parents. UGC guidelines for institutions

Publish phone numbers of anti-ragging helpline, committee in admission brochures.   Students, parents must file an affidavit vowing not to indulge in ragging.   Printed leaflet with addresses, phone numbers of authorities to be handed to all freshers.   Identity of informants of ragging incidents to be fully protected.   As far as possible, freshers to be lodged in separate hostel block.
